Ski Lessons

Most people would want ski lessons when they start their skiing holidays. For the beginners it is obvious, but also the intermediate and more experienced can often benefit from ski lessons before they challenge the slopes.

Enter your chosen ski destination + "ski schools" to find ski schools at your destination:

In North America, many resorts have their own ski school, whereas in Europe, a resort may have many different private ski schools. All instructors are trained and certified by their national organizations. Despite different emphasis in each nations qualification you can expect a qualified instructor to provide an enjoyable learning process in safe conditions. Don't hesitate to ask about the qualifications and languages spoken of the instructors in a school you are considering.

Most ski schools offer a wide range of courses to suite your interests and skills, and the prices will vary depending on country and resort. Most schools will offer a choice between group and private lessons. In general group lessons will be less expensive as you join a group of skiers of a similar standard. Expect there to be up to 8 in a group. Any more than this and you should perhaps look elsewhere. Group lessons tend to run all week. Private lessons can often be much more expensive, but the rate of progress can often be much more rapid than in group lessons as the teaching is aimed directly at your needs. Private lessons are often offered on a per session basis of anything from one hour to all day.

Before you go you can search on-line about the ski schools available at your destination. You can also find out about the qualifications of the instructors and the the kind of lessons that are offered. In most cases you can book on-line. If you are going on a ski holiday package tour, ski lessons are often part of the package, but try to make sure that you book the ski school at a level that matches your skiing abilities, otherwise you can get disappointed. You will normally get assessed before you are placed in a class, but especially for children it is important that you take an honest assessment of your child's ability to enroll into the right class.
